The count is shown when you drop the files in, with the sentence "This batch is 212 pages; you have 300 credits," and nothing runs until you say so. Pages are charged when a batch starts: free pages first, then Pro's included pages, then credits. A statement that could not be read is not charged: Its pages go back to the balance they came from.

Yes, from your account page, in two steps: Cancel Pro, then confirm. It stays on until the end of the period you paid for, and the pages already included stay available until then.
