Terms

The terms, in plain sentences.

Last updated October 23 2026. Using the site means you accept them.

Who you are dealing with.

Ledgerfoot is a service of NexusMKTG.com, LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company in Boston. In these terms, "we" means that company. The contact is Brett Wharton, Founder, at brett@nexusmktg.com. You must be 18 or older to use the service.

What the service does.

Ledgerfoot reads bank and credit card statements you upload into a table of transactions. It checks each statement against its own printed balances, finds duplicates and gaps, suggests categories, and builds export files. It is a tool for preparing a transaction table for import. It is not bookkeeping, accounting, or tax advice, it creates no professional relationship, and it does not file anything.

What is not promised.

A model reads the pages, and a model can misread a page. The balance check catches most misreads and flags the statement. It cannot catch two misreads that cancel, or a wrong description with a right amount. It cannot check a statement that prints no balances. You are responsible for reviewing the exceptions list and the exports before you import them into any accounting system. Ledgerfoot is provided as it is and as available, without a warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose, and with no warranty the law does not require us to make.

Your account and your responsibilities.

You must have the right to use the statements you upload. If they belong to a client, you are responsible for having their permission and for giving them any notice their situation requires. You must not upload statements you do not have the right to process. You are responsible for what happens on your account and for keeping your email secure. You must not use the service to break a law, to attack the service or anyone else, to scrape it, or to get around the free tier's limits.

Paying, renewing, cancelling, refunds.

Prices are shown on the pricing page before you pay and are charged through Stripe. Credits are paid once and never expire. Pro is a subscription: It renews automatically each month at the price shown at checkout, and your card is charged on each renewal date until you cancel. You can cancel from your account page at any time, in the same number of steps it took to subscribe, and Pro stays on until the end of the month you paid for. Pro's included pages are for that month and do not carry over. We email you the plan, price, and renewal terms when you subscribe. A Founding seat is paid once and provides Pro for as long as Ledgerfoot runs, under whoever runs it, and for at least five years from your purchase.

Refunds work like this. A statement that could not be read is not charged: Its pages go back to the balance they came from. Credits you have not used can be refunded within 30 days of purchase by email. Pro payments are not refunded once the month has started, except where the law requires it. A Founding seat is not refunded, except as Ending the service says. Refunds go back to the card you paid with.

Your statements and rows.

Your statements, and the rows, categories, rules, and exports made from them, are yours. We process them only to provide the service to you and on your instructions, and for nothing else. We protect them with encryption in storage and in transit, access limited to what running the service needs, and the retention periods on the Privacy page. If we learn that your data was accessed without authority, we tell you by email without undue delay and in any case within 72 hours of confirming it. The Privacy page says what is collected, what is sent to a model provider, how long data is kept, and how to delete it. It is part of these terms.

Our software and name.

The software, the checks, the question of how pages are read, the site, and the name Ledgerfoot are ours. You may use the service and its outputs for your work and your clients' work. Do not copy the service or resell access to it.

Your responsibility to us.

If you upload statements you had no right to process, or break these terms in another way, and someone brings a claim against us because of it, you will cover our costs and any amount we have to pay.

Ending the service.

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If Ledgerfoot closes, you get 60 days' notice and the chance to export everything. If it closes within five years of your Founding purchase, we refund the unused months out of sixty; after five years there is no refund. Any prepaid Pro month that would not be used is refunded.

Limit on liability.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits, a client's losses, or losses from an import you made without reviewing the exceptions. Our total liability for everything arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some states do not allow some of these limits; where that is so, our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law permits.

Independence.

Ledgerfoot is independent and not affiliated with Intuit, QuickBooks, Xero, or any bank. Their names appear only to say which file format or which bank's statement is supported.

Where disputes go.

We are based in the United States. These terms are governed by the law of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Any dispute that cannot be settled by email goes to the state or federal courts in Suffolk County, Massachusetts, or to small claims court where you live if your claim qualifies.

Changes and contact.

If these terms change, the date at the top changes. If a change affects Pro or Founding in a way that matters, we email you at least 14 days before it takes effect, and you can cancel before then. Questions go to brett@nexusmktg.com.
